This paper aims to introduce a self-developed automation interface program which can link TEKLA with other commercial structural software to enhance structural design and BIM benefits. Taipei MRT Wanda-Zhonghe-Shulin line Design Lot DQ123 adopted BIM technology at the design stage using the software of Revit AR and Tekla Structures to build a central architectural model and generate rebar elements in structural models respectively so as to enhance the benefits of use of the application of BIM to the structural design. However, only a few mature cases of underground rebar structures with established BIM models have been found. State-of-the-art BIM technology has been applied to the architectural, E&M, and structural fields in Taiwan and many other countries. A single model can also be extended through the whole life cycle of a project including the stages of operation and maintenance, with professional information provided by the owners, contractors and operators added at various stages, and updated with project status. Virtual 3D digital models allow cross-disciplinary project teams comprising architecture, civil works, structure, electrical and mechanical (E&M) professionals to easily coordinate and integrate design parameters and information. (BIM) has become increasingly practical and feasible.
